FAQ
Who are you and what do you teach?
Hi, my name's Liam Morgan and I teach the trumpet.
I think there are lots of great reasons for learning the trumpet or in fact any musical instrument but the bottom line is this;
Learn the trumpet because it's fun and because you'll enjoy it but most of all because there is something about it you are naturally drawn towards, whether that's how it sounds or looks or feels to hold or something else. How do you teach the trumpet?
I aim to inspire, encourage and enable my students to have fun expressing their thoughts and ideas through music and to achieve (as a trumpet player) at the highest levels they're capable of. Right from the beginning I give my students (of whatever age) the tools to figure out their own solutions for whatever musical problems they are challenged by. Ultimately I believe learning to use the tools I present my students with will enable them to stand the best chance of success in whatever area of their life they choose to engage with, whether that's music or something else entirely.What are your qualifications and experience?
I've been teaching the trumpet since 1991 and continue to have a 100% pass rate for all the exams I enter students in to. I have a BA Hons degree in music with a specialism in jazz and hold a Recital Certificate from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I lecture regularly to undergraduate and postgraduate university music students in the areas of music performance and web based marketing & promotion and I'm also a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians. My teaching style is strongly influenced by the work of F. M Alexander and the ITM approach to teaching his work.What is your performance experience?
I've enjoyed performing in all sorts of settings and styles of music over many years with lots of wonderful musicians. My professional experience has seen me perform at some of the most prestigious venues and events throughout the country and I think my favourite to date was for HRH Prince William at his 21st Birthday party in Windsor Castle closely followed by a performance with rock band Boho Sub at Glastonbury music festival.Who and where do you teach?
I teach students of all ages and skill levels and a lesson is almost always on a one-to-one basis in Winchmore Hill, North London. As a parent if you're bringing you're child for a lesson you're more than welcome to stay and perhaps even join in! If the journey is too far, for the compter savvy student I give lessons via Skype and am member of the Skype in Education community.
How long is a lesson and how much do you charge?
A lesson is usually either 30min or 1hr dependent on the student's requirements and skill level. I charge £36/hr, so a 30min lesson would be £18.
Thank you for reading and if you have any questions about playing the trumpet or having a lesson with me please get in touch.
